US exported 60,273.9 metric tons of biodiesel in April: USDA

In April, the U.S. exported 60,273.9 metric tons of biodiesel and biodiesel blends with B30 and higher, as per data from the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service released on June 6. Biodiesel imports stood at 207,932.6 metric tons for the same month.

While April’s biodiesel exports saw an increase compared to the 45,891.8 metric tons exported the prior month, they were lower than the 147,212.9 metric tons reported in April 2023.

The U.S. shipped biodiesel to around six countries in April, with Canada leading at 54,368.8 metric tons, followed by Peru at 5,578.9 metric tons, and Singapore at 243.4 metric tons.

The value of U.S. biodiesel exports in April totaled $84.58 million, up from $65.75 million in March but down from $266.39 million in April of the previous year.

From January to April this year, total U.S. biodiesel exports reached 153,423.7 metric tons, valued at $217.28 million, compared to 515,415.9 metric tons exported during the same period last year, valued at $382.53 million.

In April, biodiesel and biodiesel blends with B30 and higher imports to the U.S. totaled 207,932.6 metric tons, up from both the 116,141.1 metric tons in March and the 134,326.1 metric tons in April 2023.

The U.S. sourced biodiesel imports from approximately eight countries in April, with Germany as the top supplier at 59,498.6 metric tons, followed by Spain at 55,217 metric tons, and Canada at 38,040 metric tons.

U.S. biodiesel imports in April were valued at $289.11 million, increasing from $164.4 million the previous month and $232.87 million in April of the previous year.

Total U.S. biodiesel imports for the first four months of 2024 reached 671,275.4 metric tons, valued at $942.7 million, compared to 437,092.7 metric tons imported during the same period in 2023, valued at $970.28 million.
