World Green Economy Summit 2025 Backs Global Green Transition

The UAE is set to host the 11th edition of the World Green Economy Summit (WGES) on October 1 and 2, 2025, at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The event is being organised by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, and the World Green Economy Organisation (WGEO), reports Media Office, Government of Dubai.

This year’s summit will focus on “Innovating for Impact: Accelerating the Future of the Green Economy.” The goal is to bring together voices from different countries, industries, and communities to discuss new and effective ways to tackle climate change. The event aims to encourage action, support cooperation between governments and businesses, and involve developing regions in global climate efforts.

One of the major topics to be discussed will be how technology is helping the fight against climate change. Experts will share how tools like artificial intelligence and smart devices are making renewable energy systems more efficient, helping monitor pollution, and improving how we prepare for environmental risks. Real-world examples will be shared to show how such technologies are already making a difference.

The summit will also highlight the need for more clean energy, especially with rising global demand. With large data centres powered by artificial intelligence using more electricity, there will be discussions on options like nuclear power and green hydrogen to meet these growing needs. The challenges of sourcing important materials for clean energy in a responsible way will also be explored.

Policy discussions will focus on how governments can create rules that support clean energy while keeping in mind economic competition and energy security. Experts will look at how renewable energy investments are doing even when regulations change, and what role international climate agreements should play going forward.

Funding is another major issue. The summit will look at different ways to raise money for clean energy and climate projects. This includes talking about carbon credits, private investments, and new financial tools. Examples from around the world will help show what works and what doesn’t.

The event will also pay special attention to fairness in climate action. Some communities are hit harder by climate change, and speakers will discuss how to improve access to basics like clean water, food, and healthcare. Innovative farming techniques and water-saving technologies will be featured as possible solutions.

Another key focus will be on helping countries adapt to the changing climate. Sessions will cover how to recover from damage caused by extreme weather, how to prepare for future risks, and how to make sure energy remains affordable while cutting emissions.

Young people will have a strong presence at the summit. Sessions will look at how youth are pushing for change through technology, business ideas, and activism. The event will explore how younger generations are shaping the way companies and governments respond to climate challenges.

WGES 2025 is expected to be an important moment for sharing ideas and making progress in the global push for a greener, more sustainable future.
