Verbio has launched the commercial production of corn-based ethanol at its biorefinery in Nevada, Iowa. As a subsidiary of Europe’s leading biofuels and bioenergy producer, Verbio SE, the plant recently completed a comprehensive commissioning process, leading to the successful initiation of bioethanol production.
This achievement marks the completion of the second phase of the Nevada plant’s U.S. market strategy. The facility, now fully operational as a biorefinery, has a production capacity of 60 million gallons of corn-based ethanol annually and 2.3 million MMbtu of renewable natural gas (RNG).
Claus Sauter, CEO of Verbio, remarked, “The commencement of ethanol production, alongside our industrial-scale RNG operations since December 2021, represents a significant milestone for Verbio. As bioenergy continues to grow globally, it plays a crucial role in advancing sustainable mobility by supplying RNG for transportation fuels, as well as for industrial and commercial applications.”
