Amid ongoing tariff concerns, Xiaobing Feng, Principal Commercial Officer at the US Embassy in India, reiterated on Tuesday the United States’ strong commitment to collaborating with India across various sectors, with particular emphasis on the energy security partnership.
Speaking at the 3rd Energy Summit of the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC) in New Delhi, Feng highlighted the strengthening cooperation between Washington, D.C. and New Delhi in the energy domain.
She recalled the reaffirmation made by US President Donald Trump and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in February 2025, recognizing both nations as “leading producers and consumers” with a significant role in shaping global energy markets. The leaders also renewed their commitment to a long-term bilateral partnership focused on oil, gas, and civil nuclear energy.
“Energy is fundamental to the economic growth of both India and the United States, as we aim to ensure that our energy resources continue to support innovation,” Feng said.
She noted that since taking office, President Trump has worked to reduce regulatory burdens, accelerate approval processes, and support American industries, all of which have contributed to the resurgence of the US as a global energy leader.
Feng also emphasized Washington’s readiness to cooperate with India in addressing global energy challenges.
“The international energy landscape is undergoing significant change, driven by geopolitical tensions and disruptions in supply chains. The US and India have a longstanding history of technical and economic cooperation in the energy sector,” she remarked.
Feng identified three priority areas where US-India collaboration could drive impactful progress: diversifying energy sources, building resilient infrastructure, and applying American expertise in natural gas, civil nuclear power, and emerging energy technologies.
She added that American companies are keen to engage with Indian partners to develop smart energy solutions that ensure a stable and secure energy supply.
“With the global demand for critical minerals on the rise, both countries have the opportunity to lead in building reliable and sustainable supply chains,” Feng noted.
The IACC Energy Summit serves as a key platform to explore opportunities in renewable energy, hydrocarbons, and civil nuclear cooperation, while also promoting bilateral trade and investment in the energy sector.
