According to UNICA, the Brazilian sugarcane industry association, sugarcane processing and ethanol production saw significant increases in the second half of June. In the south-central region of Brazil, mills processed 48.8 million metric tons of sugarcane during this period, marking a 12.99% rise compared to the same period last year. Since the beginning of the current harvest season on April 1, total sugarcane processing reached 238.4 million metric tons, up 13.27% from the previous harvest season.
Ethanol production during the latter half of June totaled 2.31 billion liters (610.24 million gallons). This production included 1.42 billion liters of hydrous ethanol, reflecting a 32.84% increase, and 887.96 million liters of anhydrous ethanol, up by 1.06%. Additionally, corn ethanol production reached 299.58 million liters, accounting for 13% of the total production during the two-week period and marking a 22.7% increase from the same period last year.
