U.S. Representative Sharice Davids and several of her colleagues have introduced the Securing America’s Fuels (SAF) Act, a new bill aimed at strengthening the sustainable aviation fuel industry, helping farmers, and lowering emissions. The proposal brings back a tax credit for producing SAF, making it more competitive and encouraging wider use, reports Quiver Quantitative.
Supporters of the bill — including Representatives Mike Flood and Troy Carter — said it would create new jobs and give a lift to the agricultural economy while helping address environmental challenges. They noted that the SAF Act has the potential to create work in both construction and facility operations and could play an important role in cutting aviation-related greenhouse gases.
The legislation has earned bipartisan support and endorsements from major industry and farm groups. Leaders from the National Corn Growers Association and Airlines for America said the bill would help strengthen America’s energy sector and bring new opportunities to rural communities.
