Sembcorp signs MoU with Paradip Port Authority for green hydrogen facility

Bhubaneswar: Renewable power and urban development company Sembcorp on Tuesday signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Paradip Port Authority (PPA) to explore the development of a green hydrogen and ammonia hub. The agreement was exchanged during the India Maritime Week 2025 in Mumbai, reports The New Indian Express.

Under this partnership, both sides will work together to study the possibility of creating facilities for producing, storing, handling, and exporting green hydrogen and ammonia in and around Paradip Port.

The signing took place in the presence of Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal and PPA Chairman P.L. Haranadh.

Earlier this year, in January, Sembcorp signed an MoU with the Odisha government to explore the establishment of a large green hydrogen and derivatives plant with a planned production capacity of 7.2 lakh tonnes per year.

Sembcorp Industries currently operates a total energy portfolio of 27.4 GW worldwide, including 19.3 GW of renewable capacity spread across 11 countries. In India, the company is active in 18 states, generates power in 13 of them, and operates one of the largest wind energy portfolios in the country.
