The S.C. Energy Office has reaffirmed its support for renewable energy education during a recent visit to Blythewood High School, where it highlighted its ongoing partnership with the school’s Bengal Biodiesel Program.
Officials from the energy office, which functions under the South Carolina Office of Regulatory Staff, presented a cheque to mark four years of financial support for the classroom initiative. The agency said it intends to continue backing the programme in the coming years.
The Bengal Biodiesel Program provides students with practical learning opportunities related to biodiesel production and renewable energy.
Among those present were instructors Casey Guist and Will Epps, along with students Abrielle Gist, Jordyn Loney, Nolin Hemphill, Maria Eduarda Barroso da Costa, Weston Boozer, Justin Prioleau, Kaden Wallace and Addison Sommers. Representatives from the S.C. Energy Office, including Sara Bazemore, Kayla Nelums and Rene Kelly, also attended the event.
