Royal Air Maroc successfully operated its second flight using Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) on February 20, marking a milestone for Paris-Orly Airport. The flight, which traveled from Marrakech to Paris, was powered by 40% sustainable fuel, significantly reducing carbon emissions, reports Times Aerospace.
In a joint statement, the airline and its partner emphasized their shared commitment to making air travel more environmentally friendly in Morocco. “This initiative demonstrates our dedication to sustainable aviation and aligns with Morocco’s efforts to promote responsible tourism as the country becomes a top destination in Africa,” the statement noted.
Matthias de Larminat, Managing Director of Vivo Energy Morocco, called the achievement a significant step toward reducing aviation emissions. “This first delivery marks a major milestone in our efforts to decarbonize the aviation sector,” he said.
The initiative is part of a broader push for greener air travel, with SAF playing a crucial role in reducing the industry’s environmental impact.
