Spanish renewable energy firm RIC Energy has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with German engineering giant Siemens to jointly develop projects focused on green hydrogen, green ammonia, and e-fuels in Spain, reports Renewables Now.
The collaboration will support several of RIC Energy’s ongoing initiatives, including the Compostilla Green project in Cubillos del Sil, which aims to produce sustainable aviation fuel (e-SAF). Another key project covered under the agreement is the Besaya project in Torrelavega, which also focuses on sustainable fuels.
Multiple branches of Siemens are involved in the agreement, including Siemens SA, Siemens Industry Software, Siemens Financial Services, and Siemens Innovation Strategies. The partnership covers both technical development and potential financing solutions.
The two companies plan to work together to boost operational efficiency, advance decarbonisation processes, ensure industrial safety, and use digital technology to support project infrastructure. They also plan to explore vertically integrated consortium models to help implement the projects and will carry out a joint communication strategy to showcase the social and economic benefits of their work.
RIC Energy CEO Jose Luis Moya said the agreement marks a major step forward in a partnership that has been growing over recent months. “This opens new opportunities to accelerate the rollout of transformative hydrogen-related projects,” he said.
