Repsol surpasses 1,500 service stations in Spain and Portugal offering 100% renewable Nexa Diesel

Repsol has achieved a major milestone in its push to decarbonize transport, with more than 1,500 service stations now offering its 100% renewable Nexa Diesel—1,429 in Spain and 71 in Portugal. The move highlights the company’s ongoing commitment to sustainable fuels and broadens the options available to drivers seeking lower-carbon mobility solutions, in line with its updated 2024-2027 strategic plan.

With this expansion, Repsol strengthens its position as one of Europe’s largest networks of stations supplying fully renewable fuels, selling over 210 million liters so far this year. Currently, more than 40% of Repsol’s service stations provide renewable fuel, showing that liquid biofuels are a practical option for decarbonizing combustion-engine vehicles, which still account for 97% of the vehicle fleet in Spain and Europe and represent 87% of fuel sales in Spain this year.

As Spain and the European Union pursue ambitious climate goals, renewable diesel plays a critical role in reducing CO₂ emissions from existing internal combustion engines.

Nexa Diesel, distinguished by its pink color, is Repsol’s premium renewable fuel. Its specialized formulation enhances engine performance, prolongs lifespan, and is compatible with all diesel engines. Made entirely from renewable raw materials, Nexa Diesel currently reduces the carbon footprint by up to 90% compared to conventional diesel, thanks to its lower carbon intensity derived from organic sources.

Valero Marín, Executive Managing Director of Repsol’s Client Business, emphasized the significance of the milestone: “Surpassing 1,500 service stations offering 100% renewable Nexa Diesel represents a major step forward in our strategy to decarbonize transport. This achievement reinforces Repsol’s dedication to lowering CO₂ emissions while providing our customers with a wide range of energy solutions, helping to align mobility with the energy transition.”
