Recyclus, a lithium-ion battery recycling firm, has launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise funds for expanding its operations and increasing processing capacity, Motor Trade News reported.
The company recovers materials from used batteries, including black mass, which contains lithium, cobalt, nickel, manganese and graphite. It said recycling batteries into black mass helps create a system where these valuable materials can be reused instead of being wasted.
Recyclus aims to support the development of a stronger domestic supply chain for key battery materials in the United Kingdom, as demand continues to grow, partly due to rising electric vehicle sales.
The funds raised will be used to purchase additional equipment to improve processing capacity and increase the value recovered from each tonne of battery material handled by the company.
The firm reported a 179% rise in revenue in 2025 and said July and August were its first profitable months.
Chief Executive Officer Alex Stanbury said the increasing pace of electrification requires the UK to strengthen its supply chain for essential battery materials. He said the company is focused on recovering these materials from lithium-ion batteries and is now preparing for its next phase of growth after a strong year.
Stanbury added that the crowdfunding effort will help expand operations and improve the quality and yield of recovered materials, allowing the company to gain more value from each tonne processed while contributing to a more stable battery materials supply chain.
