Pralhad Joshi, the Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy, inaugurated India’s first AI-powered solar manufacturing line at Goldi Solar’s newly constructed facility in Kosamba, Surat, Gujarat.
The AI-enabled facility significantly enhances precision, scalability, and efficiency, transforming the solar manufacturing process and supporting India’s shift toward a net-zero future, according to a statement released by the company on Monday.
With a planned production capacity of 14 GW, the AI-powered facility integrates multiple innovative features that are setting new standards in solar manufacturing.
Among these innovations are high-speed stringers that utilize AI-driven automation to achieve an impressive production rate of 10,000 cells per hour. This ensures consistent quality, reduces errors, and minimizes material waste.
The facility also incorporates AI-powered Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) systems for real-time quality control. These systems use advanced computer vision to detect and eliminate microscopic defects.
Additionally, the facility boasts a fully integrated pre-lamination section with an automated EVA laying robot. This technology optimizes the placement of encapsulation layers, reducing human involvement and ensuring more consistent results compared to traditional manual methods.
The plant also features AI-driven 3-Display EL and visual inspection systems, which inspect both the front and back of the modules. These systems ensure that only the highest-quality solar modules are released to the market, improving their reliability and durability.
Minister Pralhad Joshi commented, “Companies like Goldi Solar are playing a pivotal role in advancing India’s clean energy transformation. I had the opportunity to visit the plant and review their AI-powered quality control, high-speed stringers, and robots. It’s inspiring to see Indian companies taking the lead in the global clean energy sector, aligning with PM Modi’s ‘Make in India’ vision. With a planned 14 GW production capacity and plans to begin cell manufacturing soon, Goldi Solar is strengthening India’s renewable energy landscape.”
Ishver Dholakiya, the Founder and Managing Director of Goldi Solar, expressed pride in the company’s role as the first Indian solar manufacturer to integrate AI into photovoltaic module production.
“AI’s rise means both ‘Made in India’ and ‘Make in India’ are set to thrive, boosting exports and improving production quality. Our advanced 14 GW facility reflects our commitment to a net-zero India and underscores our dedication to innovation, sustainability, and excellence. This achievement is not just a success for us, but a milestone for India’s future as a leader in renewable energy,” Dholakiya remarked.
Goldi Solar manufactures high-quality photovoltaic modules and offers Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) services.
Founded in 2011 and headquartered in Surat, Gujarat, Goldi Solar exports to over 20 countries and operates three facilities. The company’s consolidated manufacturing capacity of 14 GW is spread across Pipodara, Navsari, and Kosamba in Gujarat.
