PowerX has launched the first Mercedes-Benz Charging Hub in Chiba Park, marking the start of a new high-speed electric vehicle (EV) charging network created in partnership with Mercedes-Benz High Power Charging Japan, reports Electric Cars Report.
The charging station offers fast public charging with a maximum output of 150 kW and is open to all EV drivers. Located within a park that features a café and a gym, the hub is designed to provide a comfortable experience for users while their cars charge.
The site is powered by PowerX’s Hypercharger, an ultrafast battery-integrated charging system that includes two charging ports. The hub also introduces a custom-designed Mercedes-Benz dispenser unit, which features a large touchscreen for easier use.
The Mercedes-Benz Charging Hub uses a pay-per-use model, where fees are calculated based on the amount of electricity consumed. Mercedes-Benz EV drivers can use the “MB.CHARGE Public” service to pay and authenticate their session, while EV owners of other brands can use the “PowerX App.”
PowerX and Mercedes-Benz High Power Charging Japan plan to open additional hubs soon, including locations in Kashiwa Shonan and Komazawa.
PowerX will handle all aspects of the network—from choosing sites to managing daily operations—helping to expand EV charging access throughout Japan and supporting Mercedes-Benz’s move toward a fully electric future.
