Oxygen Man of India: Deepak Vishwakarma wins Times Now Amazing Indians Award 2025 for environment and sustainability

Deepak Vishwakarma, widely recognised as the “Oxygen Man” and the Founder-President of the NGO Making The Difference, has been awarded the Times Now Amazing Indians Award 2025 in the Environment & Sustainability category.

The award ceremony, organised by the Times Network and presented by Adani, honoured 13 remarkable individuals whose work continues to bring about meaningful change in society. The event was attended by Shri Mansukh Laxmanbhai Mandaviya, Union Minister for Labour & Employment and Youth Affairs & Sports, alongside an esteemed jury including Neerja Birla, Padmaja Ruparel, Sanjeev Bikhchandani, Prasoon Joshi, and Ashish Kumar Chauhan.

Vishwakarma has earned national recognition for his relentless efforts in environmental conservation. Through his NGO, he has led initiatives that have resulted in the plantation of over 65,000 saplings across states such as Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and Andhra Pradesh. The organisation has also developed extensive urban green spaces using the Miyawaki method, turning unused land into thriving forests.

Beyond afforestation, his work spans large-scale waste management programs, beach clean-ups, environmental awareness drives, and CSR-linked sustainability collaborations. These efforts have not only mobilised local communities but also encouraged corporate entities to adopt greener practices.

Reacting to the honour, Vishwakarma said, “This award is a tribute to every volunteer, partner, and member of the community who stood with us in making our planet greener. Being called the Oxygen Man is humbling, but the real success will come when environmental responsibility becomes a collective mission.”

With this latest recognition from Times Now, Deepak Vishwakarma stands among India’s leading social changemakers, demonstrating that sustained commitment and united efforts can drive impactful environmental transformation.
