Winston Peters, Deputy Prime Minister of New Zealand, held discussions with Bhupendra Patel, the Chief Minister of Gujarat, in Gandhinagar. They explored the possibility of forming a joint committee to enhance cooperation between the two sides.
The Deputy Prime Minister has shown interest in collaborating with Gujarat across various sectors such as Agri-Business and Center of Excellence, Maritime Coordination, Food Security, Dairy Farming, Renewable Energy, Green Hydrogen, and Tourism. Patel highlighted India’s National Education Policy of 2020, emphasizing skill development, employability, and higher education.
Furthermore, Patel suggested that New Zealand companies could tap into Gujarat’s expanding digital ecosystem, especially in fintech, at GIFT City in Gandhinagar. Patel commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, stating that the success of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit has strengthened Gujarat’s position as a prime investment destination.
Patel expressed Modi’s dedication to fostering India’s global relationships, labeling him as a ‘Vishva Mitra’ (global friend). He also highlighted the significance of the Vibrant Gujarat Summit, which aims to propel India to become the world’s third-largest economy in the coming years.
