4AIR has officially verified more than 100 global locations offering Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), significantly expanding its interactive Where to Find SAF map, available at www.4air.aero/saf-map. Now also accessible through Aviation International News (AIN) Online, the map is a practical tool for aviation operators looking to source SAF worldwide, reported Biofuels International
“This broader availability of SAF marks a key moment for the aviation industry, making decarbonization solutions more accessible to a wider range of operators,” said Kennedy Ricci, President of 4AIR. “With resources like the SAF map and tools such as the Assure SAF Registry, we aim to help operators actively engage in sustainable practices.”
The Assure SAF Registry supports operators in tracking and verifying their SAF use for both regulatory and voluntary reporting, ensuring transparency and credibility in sustainability efforts. As SAF options continue to grow—sourced from a wider range of feedstocks and available in more blend variations—documentation becomes increasingly essential.
“When we launched the SAF map in 2021, fewer than 20 locations were listed,” noted Nancy Bsales, 4AIR’s Chief Operating Officer. “Now, with 114 verified sites at the end of Q1, we’re seeing strong momentum across the business aviation sector to reduce emissions and drive sustainability forward.”
So far in 2024, about 50 new locations have started offering SAF, including 15 added in Q1 alone. The total includes 92 airports—47 in the U.S., 43 in Europe, and one each in Asia and the Middle East—where SAF is now accessible for business aviation.
Industry leaders have echoed their support for the expanding SAF infrastructure. “SAF is one of the most impactful tools we have today to reduce our environmental footprint,” said Scott Cutshall, President of Real Estate & Sustainability at Clay Lacy.
Beatrice Batty, Senior Director of Environment & Sustainability at Signature Aviation, highlighted ongoing efforts to build a robust SAF supply chain in private aviation. “We’ve been focused on creating lasting access to SAF through strategic partnerships and infrastructure development,” she said.
Jet Aviation’s VP of Regional FBO Operations in Europe, Joao Martins, emphasized their commitment to seamless sustainability services: “We aim to ensure SAF is available whenever and wherever our customers need it.”
C.R. Sincock II, Executive Vice President of Avfuel Corporation, added, “Avfuel began investing in sustainable technologies over a decade ago, including SAF and hybrid-electric systems, through our Technology Initiatives Corporation. These efforts are now driving real progress in the industry.”
The continued expansion of SAF availability reflects a broader industry commitment to reducing aviation’s carbon footprint and supporting long-term climate goals.
