Palamu: A man accused of cheating people of several lakhs of rupees in the name of biodiesel supply has been arrested by Palamu police from Darbhanga in Bihar. The accused had been changing locations since 2023 and was known for shifting his residence every six months to evade arrest, reports ETV Bharat.
The case dates back to September 2023, when two women — Renu Shah and Babita Shah — filed an FIR at the Sadar police station in Palamu. One of the accused, identified as Santosh Giri, is from Darbhanga district, while the other, Abhishek Singh, hails from Bhojpur. They were accused of cheating the women of ₹13.25 lakh on the pretext of supplying biodiesel.
The women had opened a biodiesel fuel station in the Jor Kat area under Palamu Sadar police station limits. According to the complaint, Santosh Giri and Abhishek Singh collected ₹13.25 lakh from them, promising biodiesel supply. When no supply was made, the women repeatedly pressured the two men, but neither returned the money nor delivered the fuel. Several attempts to contact the accused failed, and the money was not recovered.
Sadar police station in-charge Lalji said that Santosh Giri had been absconding and frequently changed his address to avoid being traced. He never stayed at a single residence for more than six months. Based on confidential information, the police conducted a raid and arrested the main accused, Santosh Giri, from Darbhanga.
