Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary on Monday visited the ethanol plant in Nawanagar, Buxar, where they reviewed the facility and interacted with its management and workers.
During the inspection, the plant’s CMD Ajay Singh welcomed the leaders and explained how ethanol is produced at the unit, outlining its current output and future possibilities. He told the Chief Minister that the supply order issued by the government makes up only half of the plant’s total capacity.
Singh said this reduced allocation is disrupting production, increasing financial strain and raising concerns about the long-term stability of the industry. He also handed over a memorandum urging the government to raise the supply order so that the plant can operate at full capacity. According to him, without timely action, Bihar’s ethanol sector may face serious setbacks.
Workers of the plant also expressed their worries about job security. They submitted a joint application to the Chief Minister, noting that lower supply orders are directly affecting production and creating doubt about the plant’s future. They appealed for supply levels to reflect the plant’s actual capacity so that operations remain steady and their jobs remain protected.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar heard the concerns raised by both the management and employees and assured them that the government would examine the issue with seriousness, reported The Hans India. He reaffirmed that strengthening the ethanol industry is an important goal for the state, and appropriate steps would be taken soon.
The visit by the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister is being viewed as an important development for Bihar’s ethanol sector, especially as the state continues to introduce policy measures aimed at expanding ethanol production. The Buxar unit, regarded as one of the state’s key ethanol facilities, now hopes for supportive government action following this high-level review.
