Jord and Votion Biorefineries collaborates to convert C4-Grass biomass into biocrude and sustainable aviation fuel

Jord AB and Votion Biorefineries AB have announced a new partnership to convert C4-grass biomass into biocrude and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). The collaboration aims to provide cleaner energy solutions for transport, aviation, and chemical industries, which are some of the most difficult sectors to reduce carbon emissions, reports Biomass Magazine.

Jord AB grows and supplies C4-grass biomass and solid biofuels, mainly on unused or damaged lands in Senegal and the Dominican Republic. This fast-growing plant absorbs carbon, improves soil quality, and can be used to generate renewable energy.

Votion Biorefineries, a Swedish company founded in 2022, develops technologies to convert plant-based materials into fuel, chemicals, and other useful products. The company focuses on creating solutions that can be expanded to meet growing energy needs.

Through this partnership, Jord and Votion plan to:

Reduce carbon emissions in key industries.

Find ways to produce biofuel on a larger scale.

Create new job opportunities in the areas where they operate.

Anders Edling Hultgren, CEO of Votion Biorefineries, said the partnership will bring practical solutions to the fuel industry. “By combining Votion’s expertise in converting biomass into fuel with Jord’s ability to grow sustainable crops, we can create a model that supports cleaner energy and lowers pollution.”

Peder Dagsánth, CEO of Jord AB, highlighted the environmental and social impact of the project. “At Jord, we are committed to restoring the balance of nature while helping local communities grow. Working with Votion Biorefineries allows us to make better use of C4-grass biomass and move toward cleaner energy worldwide.”

Jord and Votion plan to:

🔹 Develop a shared strategy that combines growing biomass with producing biocrude.

🔹 Set up refineries near Jord’s production sites to reduce transport costs and pollution.

🔹 Test how well C4-grass biomass works in making fuel.

🔹 Work together on funding and finding customers.

🔹 Open the first large-scale biomass fuel facility within eight years, focusing on areas that still depend on fossil fuels.

This partnership marks a major step in making renewable fuel more accessible while supporting communities and reducing carbon emissions.
