Mitsubishi Power, a subsidiary of Japan’s Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd (TYO:7011), has completed the construction of a 50-MW biomass-fired power plant in Miyazaki prefecture.
Named the Hyuga Biomass Power Plant, it features a steam turbine, a circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boiler, a generator, and other associated equipment.
The plant was developed by a consortium led by MHI and will be operated by a special purpose company (SPC) owned by Osaka Gas Co Ltd, ITOCHU Corporation, Tokyo Century Corporation, and Tokyo Energy & Systems Inc.
Mitsubishi Power has indicated that the MHI Group will continue to focus on developing renewable power generation systems, including those utilizing biomass fuel.
