Indonesia’s biodiesel consumption in first half of 2024 reach 6.12 million kilolitres

Indonesia’s biodiesel consumption reached 6.12 million kilolitres in the first half of 2024, according to data from the energy ministry released on Friday.

For 2024, Indonesia has allocated 13.4 million kilolitres of palm-oil-based biodiesel to meet its B35 blending mandate.

In Indonesia, fuel suppliers buy the allocated biodiesel from producers at the price of gasoil. Major biodiesel suppliers in the country include Wilmar, Apical, KPN, and Musim Mas. The Oil Palm Plantation Fund Management Agency compensates producers for the price difference between biodiesel and gasoil using funds collected through export levies on palm oil products, based on the state-determined formula price for palm methyl ester.
