With a procurement of around 23 crore litres of Biodiesel, Indian Oil has achieved an average blending of 0.5 per cent of Biodiesel in Diesel in the year 2023-24. As per the indicative targets given by GoI in the National Policy on Biofuels, 5% blending of Biodiesel in diesel is envisaged by the year 2029-30.
According to IndianOil, this achievement not only exceeds the 0.43 per cent blending ratio reached by other oil marketing companies (OMCs) but also represents a significant milestone in India’s pursuit of a sustainable energy future.
IndianOil’s recognition at the India Bio-Energy & Tech Expo 2024 highlights its crucial role in driving India’s biofuel revolution. The company has already surpassed 15 per cent ethanol blending in its base petrol, progressing towards the national target of 20 per cent ethanol blending by 2025.
Beyond its biodiesel accomplishments, IndianOil has made significant advancements in ethanol-based fuels. It recently launched India’s first ETHANOL-100 fuel, which is available at 400 stations in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu.
IndianOil has also led technological innovations in ethanol production, establishing India’s first 2G ethanol plant and the world’s first 3G ethanol plant in Panipat, further solidifying its leadership in the biofuels industry.
