New Delhi: India is unlikely to meet its goal of achieving 5 million metric tonnes (MMT) of annual green hydrogen production capacity by 2030 due to global uncertainties, a senior government official said on Tuesday, reports PTI.
Speaking at the 3rd International Green Hydrogen Conference, Santosh Kumar Sarangi, Secretary, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, said, “We may fall short of the target of 5 MMT of annual green hydrogen production capacity by 2030.”
Under the National Green Hydrogen Mission, launched in 2023, the government had set a target of establishing 5 MMT of annual production capacity by 2030.
Mr. Sarangi added that the country is now expected to reach the target by 2032. However, India could achieve around 3 MMT of annual production capacity by 2030, he noted, attributing the delay to global uncertainties affecting project implementation.
