India: Ethanol sector in Madhya Pradesh draws investor interest

Punjab, India: During his visit to Ludhiana, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav met individually with prominent industrialists from Punjab, presenting Madhya Pradesh as an attractive destination for investment. He highlighted the state’s business-friendly environment and assured that the government is willing to revise existing policies to accommodate fresh investment opportunities. Dr. Yadav reaffirmed the state’s commitment to safeguarding the interests of both industry and workers.

Speaking at an investor meeting, the Chief Minister shared that the one-on-one meetings and interactive sessions resulted in investment proposals totaling ₹15,606 crore, projected to create over 20,000 jobs. He invited industrialists from Ludhiana and across Punjab to explore opportunities in Madhya Pradesh, emphasizing the state’s rich natural resources and pro-industry policies.

Several key business leaders from diverse sectors held discussions with the Chief Minister. From the textile industry, Dinesh Oswal (CMD, Nahar Group), Navneet Gupta (CFO, SEL Group), and Manjit Singh (Bonn Group of Industries) explored opportunities in the state. In the steel sector, Lokesh Jain (MD, TK Steel Group) expressed interest in expanding operations.

Representing the pharmaceuticals, ethanol, and chemical industries, Varinder Gupta (MD, IOL Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals) and Puneet Agrawal (Director, MRM Medhya Greentech) shared their investment plans. In food processing and tea, Sushil Mittal (MD, Bhagwati Lactose Vegetarian Exports) and Harish Dua (KG Export Team) discussed logistics and the advantages of the state’s agro-based infrastructure.

From the engineering sector, S.K. Rai (MD, Hero Cycles) and Amit Kumar Modi (MD, Highland Ethanol) inquired about industrial zones and support infrastructure. Anoop Bector (MD, Bectors Foods) and Deepak Garg (Director, A.V. Cotspin Industries) praised Madhya Pradesh’s forward-thinking approach and held detailed discussions with Dr. Yadav.

Dr. Yadav also pointed to the state’s recent approval of major labor settlements worth several hundred crores as a demonstration of its pro-worker stance. He emphasized that the government is ready to introduce policy changes—even at the Cabinet level—if it helps streamline investments and foster industry growth.

The Ludhiana engagement marked a significant step in attracting new investment and reinforced Madhya Pradesh’s image as a reliable and industry-friendly destination under Dr. Yadav’s leadership.
