Hindustan Power has entered into a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) for the development of a 435 MW DC solar photovoltaic project in the state. The agreement, announced on Wednesday, ensures the supply of clean electricity for a period of 25 years.
The company has already begun on-site activities, including the inauguration of its project office. This solar venture represents a major step in Uttar Pradesh’s push towards expanding its renewable energy capacity, aligning with the state government’s target of achieving 22,000 MW of clean energy by 2026-27.
The project was awarded to Hindustan Power in April 2025 through a transparent and competitive bidding process conducted by UPPCL. In addition to supplying green power, the initiative is expected to generate employment and promote sustainable development within the local region.
Ratul Puri, Chairman of Hindustan Power, emphasized the company’s commitment to timely and efficient project execution. “We are progressing rapidly to ensure that everything—from site development to stakeholder collaboration—is managed effectively and remains on track,” he said.
As part of its broader renewable energy strategy, Hindustan Power has commenced groundwork involving local engagement, workforce deployment, and infrastructure development. The project plays a vital role in the company’s plan to scale its clean energy capacity to 5 GW, contributing meaningfully to India’s shift towards sustainable power sources.
Hindustan Power, one of India’s leading integrated power producers, focuses on both renewable and transitional energy. With sustainability and innovation at its core, the company continues to support the country’s evolving energy landscape.
