The Maharashtra government is presently determining the methodology to implement the ‘Maharashtra Green Hydrogen Policy-2023′ across the state. This policy involves establishing projects within various municipalities and municipal councils’ jurisdictions. Approval from local bodies is crucial for these projects to proceed. Therefore, the state government has instructed local bodies to propose reforms in the policy procedure. As a result, the Pune Municipal Corporation has been requested to provide clear feedback, aligning with the directives issued by the state government, reported Pune Mirror.
The state is preparing for the production of green hydrogen and associated products, with a comprehensive strategy outlined to maximize their utilization. A key objective is to transform the state into a thriving market for these eco-friendly products. The policy aims to explore innovative applications for green hydrogen, promote technological advancements through research, development, and technical collaborations, and streamline the export process for this sustainable fuel. As part of this initiative, a project registration procedure has been formulated, requiring approval and authorization from Municipal Corporations and Municipal Councils under the Urban Development Department.
The process outlined under this policy involves several steps, including obtaining necessary permissions from local authorities for land acquisition, ensuring availability of water through approval from local bodies, and securing building plan approvals, temporary fire NOCs, temporary water connections, and drainage plan approvals. Additionally, construction certificates from local bodies, building completion and occupancy certificates, as well as NOCs from the fire department are essential. A structured procedure has been established to facilitate the establishment of government green hydrogen projects and encourage green hydrogen production. The initial phase requires prompt acquisition of relevant approvals, permissions, and registrations from the Urban Development Department through project registration. In cases where guidelines are not met, feedback regarding necessary amendments to the current operational procedures is sought for transparent evaluation.
