A Bhoomi Pujan ceremony for an integrated solar plant by Avaada Group took place in Nagpur on Monday, with production set to commence by April. Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, highlighted that the state government has initiated a plan to implement around 20,000 MW of solar energy across Maharashtra.
Fadnavis stated, “Today, we conducted the Bhoomi Pujan for the integrated solar plant by Avaada Group. This project represents a comprehensive integration of solar units and is one of the most advanced of its kind. The efficiency of the products produced here will surpass that of current offerings. Our initiative for 20,000 MW of solarisation in Maharashtra will greatly benefit from this development. Production is expected to begin in April 2025.”
He further noted that the plant will manufacture modules, ingots, chips, and glass.
Earlier, Avaada Group announced it had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Maharashtra government to develop two innovative Pumped Storage Projects (PSPs) with a combined capacity of 2,750 MW, as stated in a press release.
The MoU was officially signed between the Water Resources Department of Maharashtra and Avaada Aqua Batteries Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of Avaada Group. The signing ceremony was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Avaada Group’s Chairman Vineet Mittal, and other distinguished guests.
The two major projects include the 1,500 MW Pawana Falyan PSP in Pune and Raigad districts, and the 1,250 MW Kumbhavade PSP in Kolhapur and Ratnagiri districts. With a total investment of around INR 14,000 crore over the next 5 to 7 years, these projects are expected to significantly enhance Maharashtra’s energy security and promote environmental sustainability.
Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis reiterated his commitment to boosting investments in renewable energy, particularly focusing on the Maharashtra State Agri-Krushi Yantrikikaran Yojana (MSKY).
