Gensol Engineering Limited, a prominent player in the renewable energy sector specializing in solar engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) and electric mobility solutions, has partnered with Matrix Gas & Renewables Ltd., a rapidly expanding green hydrogen infrastructure developer and natural gas aggregator. Together, they have secured the project to establish India’s first Green Hydrogen Valley in Pune.
According to the press release, Gensol and Matrix will build and operate the Green Hydrogen production plant on a Build, Own, and Operate (BOO) basis, providing Green Hydrogen to the specialty chemical sector with a firm off-take agreement for 20 years.
Anmol Jaggi, Managing Director of Gensol Engineering Ltd., expressed his pride in the achievement, stating, “We are honored to develop India’s inaugural Green Hydrogen Valley project. The Government of India, through the Department of Science & Technology (DST), has made a significant move to support these Hydrogen Valleys. We will supply Green Hydrogen to the specialty chemical sector in Pune, Maharashtra, on a round-the-clock (RTC) basis, advancing the Green Hydrogen economy in India.”
Chirag Kotecha, Whole-time Director at Matrix Gas and Renewables Ltd., added, “We are dedicated to supporting India’s net-zero goals by addressing key aspects of the National Green Hydrogen Mission. This Green Hydrogen Valley project is facilitated by the National Chemical Laboratories (NCL), Pune, in the Kurkumbh region. It provides an opportunity to develop Green Hydrogen generation concepts, applications, and R&D facilities. We were chosen as the best bidder (both technically and commercially) through a competitive tender to set up a Green Hydrogen Generation plant on a BOO basis using the electrolysis method.”
Gensol and Matrix, both supported by common promoters, will continue their collaboration in the Green Hydrogen sector and its derivatives, including Green Steel and Green Ammonia, leveraging the strengths of each company.
