Genesis unveils GV60 Magma as brand’s first high-performance electric vehicle

enesis, the luxury marque of Hyundai Motor Group, on Tuesday introduced its first high-performance electric model, the GV60 Magma, marking a major expansion of its EV portfolio with a clear emphasis on driving performance.

According to Pulse, the English-language service of South Korea’s Maeil Business News, the GV60 Magma is the most powerful electric vehicle Genesis has produced so far. The model accelerates from a standstill to 200 kmph in 10.9 seconds and has a top speed of 264 kmph, reinforcing its positioning as a performance-focused EV.

Power is supplied by dual electric motors mounted on the front and rear axles, delivering a combined output of 448 kilowatts, or 609 horsepower. When boost mode is activated, peak output briefly increases to 478 kilowatts, the report said.

To support its enhanced performance, the Magma variant features revised dimensions compared with the standard GV60. It is 50 millimetres wider and 20 millimetres lower, with exterior modifications aimed at improving aerodynamics. Genesis said the updated proportions and design elements were developed to enhance high-speed stability and overall driving performance.

The GV60 Magma is equipped with an 84-kilowatt-hour fourth-generation battery, offering a government-certified driving range of 346 kilometres on a single charge. While the model is available in the existing GV60 colour options, Genesis has introduced an exclusive new shade, Magma Orange, for this variant.

Offered in a single trim, the GV60 Magma is priced at 96.57 million won, or about USD 66,000, based on an individual consumption tax rate of 3.5 per cent.

To coincide with the launch, Genesis has announced a promotional offer for early buyers. Customers who take delivery of the vehicle by April will be entered into a draw to win an all-expenses-paid trip to France to attend the 24 Hours of Le Mans, including race tickets, flights, accommodation and meals, the report said.
