Envien Group and Lootah Biofuels to explore collaboration opportunities in UAE biodiesel business

Envien Group and Lootah Biofuels are set to explore collaboration opportunities in the UAE’s biodiesel sector, following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This development follows an initial meeting at COP28 in December 2023 and outlines a joint roadmap and development plan for their partnership.

The imminent implementation of the B5 mandate for road transportation in the UAE provides a significant opportunity for both companies to leverage their strengths and support the Emirates’ decarbonization goals. Envien Group has expressed strong support for this initiative, noting its potential to set a precedent across the Gulf Region, a hub with a robust global oil and gas industry.

This collaboration aims to not only reduce emissions but also address local and regional waste streams, such as Used Cooking Oil, which can be repurposed as feedstock for biodiesel production.

In addition to the initial meeting, both management and technical teams from Envien Group and Lootah Biofuels have visited each other’s facilities and engaged with key stakeholders from the local regulatory and business environments.
