Kinetic Engineering Ltd. is re-entering the two-wheeler segment with a modern twist on a familiar name — the Kinetic DX. Now launched as an electric scooter, the new DX has been introduced by the company’s EV subsidiary, Kinetic Watts and Volts Ltd. (KWV), according to a statement released on Monday.
Staying true to the original’s design heritage, the electric DX blends nostalgic styling with contemporary EV technology and smart features. It will be available in two variants — the standard DX and a more advanced DX+. Prices range from ₹1,11,499 to ₹1,17,499 (ex-showroom, Pune).
Deliveries are scheduled to begin in September 2025. The company has limited initial bookings to 35,000 units, which can be reserved online for ₹1,000.
Built with a sturdy metal frame and offering generous space, including 37 litres of under-seat storage, both variants come equipped with a 2.6 kWh LFP battery sourced from Range-X. The DX+ promises a range of up to 116 km and claims superior durability compared to traditional NMC batteries used in many other electric scooters.
The scooter’s motor delivers a top speed of 90 km/h and includes three ride modes — Range, Power, and Turbo. Other key features include regenerative braking, hill-hold assist, reverse mode, telescopic front forks, and an adjustable rear suspension. Braking is managed by a 220mm disc at the front and a 130mm drum at the rear, with a combined braking system for added safety.
The DX line also introduces several convenience-focused touches. These include keyless start (Easy Key), a retractable charging cable on the DX+ (Easy Charge), and a one-touch pillion footrest (Easy Flip). The DX+ further offers smartphone connectivity via a mobile app, real-time tracking, GPS-based security, and voice alerts through an integrated speaker — covering everything from navigation to safety prompts.
Speaking about the relaunch, Ajinkya Firodia, Vice Chairman of Kinetic India, said:
“The legendary Kinetic DX set many benchmarks in the ’90s and became a household name. This revival isn’t just about bringing back a scooter — it’s about reintroducing the trust, innovation, and resilience that Kinetic stood for, now with a futuristic edge.”
