Egypt: PM inaugurates “Kemet for Integrated Industries” ethanol production plant in Sokhna Industrial Zone

On Sunday, October 26, 2025, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly officially opened the “Kemet for Integrated Industries” ethanol production plant in the Sokhna Industrial Zone. The event highlighted the government’s push to attract private investment and develop advanced, high-value manufacturing.

During the opening ceremony, the Prime Minister was joined by several senior ministers and the head of the Suez Canal Economic Zone. Madbouly stated that projects like this are vital for the nation’s economy. He noted that they help reduce the amount of goods that need to be brought in from other countries and provide new employment opportunities for young people.

Romani Nabil Emmanuel, the head of the plant, provided details about the new facility. He explained that the $4 million factory was built on a 1,575-square-meter site and specializes in producing high-grade ethanol and industrial alcohol. The plant is expected to make approximately 2 million liters each year and will provide work for 30 people directly, with another 15 jobs supported indirectly.

Emmanuel also emphasized the plant’s use of local materials. “We use molasses from Egyptian sugarcane and beet,” he said, “and our production will supply the local market with a high-quality product needed for making medicines, personal care items, and supplies for scientific labs.”

Walid Gamal El-Din, who leads the Suez Canal Economic Zone, said the new factory is a sign of growing investor trust. “This project not only strengthens our local manufacturing capabilities but also shows that businesses believe in the potential of this zone and its modern infrastructure,” he stated.
