DG Fuels appoints Samsung E&A as contractor for SAF project in St. James

DG Fuels LLC has appointed SAMSUNG E&A as a major contractor for its first synthetic jet fuel project in St. James Parish, Louisiana. The company will be responsible for the blue hydrogen, green hydrogen, and power generation segments of the approximately $8 billion project. The parties have signed a term sheet, with SAMSUNG E&A expected to begin the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) for its portion of the project before the end of 2025, according to the press release.

In its role, SAMSUNG E&A will collaborate with Black & Veatch, which serves as the contractor for the remainder of the project and acts as the overall integrator of the system’s component technologies. The two firms are also in preliminary discussions about potential future projects in Minnesota and Nebraska.

Mike Darcy, Chairman and CEO of DG Fuels, commented, “We are extremely enthusiastic to enter into this commercial relationship with SAMSUNG E&A, which has globally recognized expertise in energy plants. We look forward to expanding our collaboration as we explore additional ways to support this important project.”

Chris Chaput, President and CFO of DG Fuels, added, “The SAMSUNG E&A team brings extensive expertise, experience, and key business relationships to our project, with the potential to establish a broad strategic partnership for large-scale deployment of critically important synthetic fuels.”

DG Fuels’ St. James Project is expected to produce approximately 200 million gallons of jet fuel per year and is targeting a final investment decision in the third quarter of 2026.
