Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners secures A$814 million from Australian government for Murchison Green Hydrogen project

The Australian government has committed A$814 million ($515.83 million) to support the Murchison Green Hydrogen project, Danish clean energy fund manager Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) announced on Thursday, reports The Economic Times.

Located 20 kilometers north of Kalbarri in Western Australia, the project is expected to produce approximately 1.8 million metric tons of green ammonia annually, primarily for export to Asian markets.

“We see significant potential in green hydrogen, and projects such as Murchison Green Hydrogen are crucial for countries and industries aiming to take the next step in decarbonization and energy independence,” said Karsten Uhd Plauborg, partner at CIP.

The project aims to harness green hydrogen as a sustainable energy source to combat climate change. According to its website, Murchison Green Hydrogen is focused on advancing clean energy solutions to aid global decarbonization efforts.
