Bolt.Earth launches First EV charging hub at Guruvayur Temple, Kerala

Bolt.Earth, India’s leading electric vehicle charging network, has partnered with the Guruvayur Devaswom Board to set up dedicated EV charging stations at the renowned Guruvayur Temple in Kerala.

Instead of opting for a generic charging setup, the installation has been carefully tailored to suit the unique mobility patterns around the temple. The system takes into account the types of electric vehicles commonly used for last-mile transport in the area and the extended time many devotees spend at the temple.

The newly installed charging infrastructure includes a combination of 3.3 kW sockets, suited for e-rickshaws and two-wheelers, as well as 7 to 11 kW AC fast chargers designed to cater to four-wheelers traveling from different parts of Kerala and Tamil Nadu. This mix ensures that both local service providers and outstation visitors can conveniently charge their EVs during their time at the temple.

All charging points are integrated with the Bolt.Earth mobile app, which is accessible via the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, offering a smooth and user-friendly experience.

Guruvayur is one of India’s most visited temple towns, with daily footfalls averaging between 15,000 and 30,000 and surging to over 50,000 during major festivals. Despite the rise in EV adoption across Kerala and nearby states, pilgrimage destinations like Guruvayur have historically lacked dependable EV charging infrastructure.

“During peak periods, devotees may spend four hours or more inside the temple complex, especially during events like Seeveli,” said Raghav Bharadwaj, CEO of Bolt.Earth. “This dwell time presents an ideal opportunity for EV charging. However, most high-traffic locations still don’t have reliable charging options. Our deployment here is about bridging that gap and ensuring that electric mobility reaches the everyday spaces people rely on.”

This project addresses a significant infrastructure shortfall, offering a reliable solution for EV-driving pilgrims, and enabling them to make the journey without worrying about charging access.

The Guruvayur installation aligns with a broader national trend toward sustainable infrastructure in religious spaces. It mirrors similar initiatives, such as those in Uttarakhand’s Char Dham circuit, as India moves to integrate clean mobility across both urban and pilgrimage corridors.

Bolt.Earth’s installations are known for their reliability, with zero hardware failures reported so far. The company backs its systems with robust customer service and round-the-clock support.

As a comprehensive EV infrastructure provider, Bolt.Earth offers end-to-end solutions, ranging from hardware and installation to software and ongoing maintenance. Its client portfolio includes major names such as Tata, Bajaj, Mahindra, American Express, SAP, Brigade Group, and Sobha Realty, among others.
