Balotara police seizes 53,000 litres of illegal biodiesel, Three arrested

Balotara police have successfully intercepted a large illegal biodiesel operation, seizing approximately 53,000 litres of the illicit fuel. The police also detained three individuals involved in the operation. The biodiesel was being transported in two pick-up tankers, with two large tanks filled with the fuel. The authorities received a tip-off about the illegal supply of biodiesel along the Bharat Mala Expressway, prompting a raid, according to the NDTV.

Following the information, the District Special Team and the CO of Pachpadra raided a secluded location near Patau village, where they uncovered the illegal operation. The District Logistics Department was informed, and the three accused were taken into custody based on suspicion of operating without the necessary licenses and distributing adulterated diesel.

The police suspect that the area around the Bharat Mala Expressway and the surrounding region has become a hotspot for illegal trade of coal, chemicals, and diesel. There have been several reports of covert operations involving these illicit activities.

SP Hari Shankar explained that the illegal business was operating on a farm near the Bharat Mala Expressway in Balotara. Behind a shed in the field, two large tanks were concealed behind green nets, where biodiesel was transferred into pick-up tankers and then supplied to trucks traveling on the highway. The operation was conducted in secret, taking advantage of the remote location. With the recent expansion of the Bharat Mala Expressway, similar illegal businesses have been increasingly exposed in the area.

Upon further investigation, it was revealed that these individuals had been previously arrested for similar illegal activities three years ago. However, driven by the allure of high profits, they had resumed the illegal trade once again. After the case was registered by the Logistics Department, Pachpadra police initiated further legal proceedings.

The growing demand for biodiesel is largely attributed to rising fuel prices across the state. As the prices of diesel and petrol soar, more people are turning to biodiesel as an alternative. However, the lack of proper licenses and unregulated sales of biodiesel has led to a rise in illegal operations. The authorities are now focusing on cracking down on these illegal fuel trades to protect consumers and the environment.

The police have assured that further action will be taken against those involved in the illicit business, and efforts will continue to dismantle such illegal operations in the region.
