Ahmedabad: The solid waste management department of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has fined an agency ₹1 lakh for failing to maintain a biogas plant at the Vasna APMC premises, which led to unhygienic conditions, reports The Times of India.
Officials said the department had received repeated complaints about filth due to poor upkeep of the plant. Despite being served three notices, the agency did not take corrective action, prompting authorities to seal its office on September 3.
An AMC official said the agency had ignored repeated warnings. “We imposed a fine of ₹1 lakh and ordered immediate cleaning of the premises. The seal will remain until the work is properly completed and it is ensured that waste from the biogas plant does not spread further,” the official stated.
