Adani Green achieves significant milestone by surpassing 15,000 megawatts of operational capacity

Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) has reached a major milestone, crossing 15,000 megawatts (MW) of operational renewable energy capacity. The company now stands at 15,539.9 MW, making it the fastest and largest green energy capacity addition ever recorded in India, according to the media report.

According to the Adani Group, this achievement establishes AGEL as the first and only Indian renewable energy firm to reach this scale, built primarily through greenfield projects. The current operational mix includes approximately 11,005.5 MW from solar projects, 1,977.8 MW from wind, and 2,556.6 MW from hybrid wind-solar installations.

Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, took to social media platform X to announce the milestone. “Delighted to share that Adani Green has surpassed 15,000 MW of renewable energy capacity, marking the largest and fastest green energy build-out in India’s history. From the desert landscapes of Khavda to a proud place among the world’s Top 10 Green Power Producers, this milestone is more than a number. It reflects our commitment to the planet and our resolve to drive India’s green resurgence,” he posted.

Ashish Khanna, CEO of AGEL, credited the achievement to the company’s long-term vision. “Inspired by Mr Gautam Adani’s ambition to make Adani a global renewable energy leader, AGEL is dedicated to setting new benchmarks in innovation and operational efficiency. We’re not stopping here—we aim to leap from 15,000 MW to 50,000 MW by 2030, continuing to power India and the world with sustainable solutions,” Khanna said.

With its current capacity, AGEL can provide clean electricity to around 7.9 million households, enough to supply energy to thirteen Indian states or the entire northeastern region.

As per the news report, this accomplishment comes as AGEL marks ten years of delivering affordable, clean energy at scale. A key component of its future growth is the massive 30,000 MW renewable energy project under development in Khavda, Gujarat. Spanning 538 square kilometers, five times the size of Paris, the site is visible from space and is expected to become the world’s largest power plant across all energy categories once fully operational. Already, 5,355.9 MW has been commissioned at the Khavda location.

AGEL’s progress at Khavda aligns with India’s national target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.

In addition to its size and speed of deployment, AGEL’s portfolio is also environmentally responsible. The entire operational capacity is certified as water positive. AGEL has secured the top ranking in the National Stock Exchange’s ESG ratings for the power sector and holds the highest FTSE Russell ESG score globally in the Alternative Electricity Subsector.
