Pan Oleo Energy targets biofuel growth with new feedstock initiative

Pan Oleo Energy Limited, a prominent player in the renewable energy and biofuel sectors, has launched a new initiative focused on exploring and aggregating biofuel feedstocks in key regions, particularly Assam, Meghalaya, and northern West Bengal. This strategy aims to tap into the significant biofuel potential of these areas, contributing to India’s expanding renewable energy sector, reported India Today NE.

Biofuels, made from renewable organic sources, provide a cleaner alternative to traditional fossil fuels. Biodiesel, in particular, is a crucial element, produced from materials such as vegetable oils, animal fats, and used cooking oil (UCO). Its cleaner combustion properties make biodiesel instrumental in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving engine efficiency.

Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), another key component in the renewable energy mix, is emerging as a viable alternative to conventional jet fuel. SAF is made from sustainable feedstocks and offers the dual benefits of reducing carbon emissions and being compatible with existing jet engines, enabling airlines to adopt greener fuel options without requiring major infrastructure changes.

The northeastern states of Assam and Meghalaya present an ideal opportunity for biofuel feedstock aggregation due to their abundance of organic waste from food outlets and agricultural activities. The growing availability of used cooking oil and non-edible vegetable oils further positions these regions as promising hubs for biofuel production.

Pan Oleo Energy plans to conduct extensive market research to evaluate the feasibility of feedstock aggregation in these areas. In partnership with companies like Uranus Oil, the company intends to build a strong procurement network to facilitate the efficient collection and processing of organic waste for biofuel production.
