Neste has assisted ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC), a leading global data center provider, in becoming the first data center operator in Singapore to run its backup generators on renewable diesel. This transition from fossil diesel to Neste MY Renewable Diesel™ was completed at STT GDC’s Singapore facilities in late July this year. The fuel was supplied by Neste’s distribution partner, Interion Pte Ltd.
Lionel Yeo, Chief Executive Officer for Southeast Asia at ST Telemedia Global Data Centres, stated, “At STT GDC, we are dedicated to adopting innovative solutions that improve both our operational efficiency and environmental sustainability. The adoption of renewable diesel is a crucial step towards meeting our sustainability objectives and supporting Singapore’s climate goals. As our business expands, we aim to integrate sustainability into all aspects of our operations and contribute to the industry’s push for renewable fuels.”
Joerg Huebeler, Head of Market Development for Transportation and Industry at Neste, added, “We are thrilled to work with STT GDC to help them achieve their sustainability targets by transitioning to Neste’s renewable diesel. This partnership demonstrates how seamlessly the shift from fossil fuels to our lower-emission renewable diesel can be made, without affecting data center performance or reliability. We hope this serves as a positive example of sustainable practices within the data center sector.”
Neste MY Renewable Diesel is made from 100% renewable raw materials and is a drop-in fuel that requires no changes to existing energy systems or fuel distribution infrastructure. By using Neste MY Renewable Diesel, greenhouse gas emissions can be reduced by up to 90%* compared to fossil diesel over the fuel’s life cycle.
The percentage of greenhouse gas emission reduction can vary based on regional legislation, such as the EU RED II 2018/2001/EU in Europe or California’s LCFS in the U.S., and the mix of raw materials used to produce the fuel for different markets.
