Online platform dedicated to development of biomass energy market to be launched in Moldova

Moldova is set to launch an online platform focused on advancing the biomass energy market. This platform will enable all stakeholders – including companies, public institutions, and individuals – to advertise and track sales and purchases related to products and services in the biomass energy sector, reported Moldpress.

Carolina Novac, State Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, emphasized that renewable energy encompasses more than just photovoltaic panels. She highlighted the potential for biomass in Moldova to play a significant role in the energy mix, contributing to achieving the target of 27% renewable energy in the final energy consumption sector.

Ion Muntean, Director of the National Center for Sustainable Energy, underscored the importance of developing the biomass market in Moldova as part of the country’s energy transition process. He stated that the new electronic platform dedicated to marketing solid biofuels in Moldova will facilitate access to environmentally friendly and sustainable resources, thereby supporting energy source diversification and reducing reliance on fossil fuels.

The establishment of this online platform was made possible with financial support from the Government of Japan under the project “Multidimensional response to emerging human security challenges,” implemented by UNDP.
