F&B Bio Recyclage selects Saipem and ISS International S.p.A. as  technical consultants for Ghana’s Landmark Waste-to-SAF Project.

F&B Bio Recyclage Ltd, the project developer of Ghana’s  first large-scale Waste-to-Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) facility, announced the selection of Saipem S.p.A. and ISS International S.p.A as the  Technical Consultants for its landmark Waste-to-Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF)  Project in Ghana. This strategic partnership marks a significant milestone in West  Africa’s transition toward circular economy practices and sustainable aviation.  The appointment follows a rigorous evaluation and engagement process, during  which both Saipem and ISS International demonstrated strong capabilities,  extensive experience in complex energy infrastructure, and a proven track record in  executing large-scale industrial projects across Africa and the global energy sector.

This innovative project marks a significant step forward in developing West  Africa’s first commercial-scale Waste-to-SAF facility, designed to convert up to  2,000 tonnes of municipal solid waste per day into high-quality sustainable  aviation fuel using advanced gasification and Fischer-Tropsch technologies. By  transforming waste into valuable, low-carbon fuel, the initiative will contribute to  Ghana’s environmental sustainability goals while supporting the global aviation  sector’s commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Saipem, a global leader in engineering, procurement, and construction for the  energy and infrastructure sectors, brings extensive expertise in complex industrial  projects and advanced fuel production technologies, together with ISS  International Spa, a global engineering consultancy with a long history of  delivering high-level technical services, FEED support, project management  consulting, and operational optimization. The company’s strong track record across  West Africa—including ongoing advisory roles within the region’s refining and  industrial sectors—positions them as an ideal partner for this transformative  project.

The selection of Saipem and ISS International marks a critical step toward  advancing Pre-FEED and FEED engineering, technical structuring, and overall  project readiness ahead of the Series A capital raise and subsequent Series B  infrastructure financing.

The technical consultants will work in collaboration with leading technology  licensors including Honeywell UOP, Johnson Matthey & BP, and MyRechemical (NextChem), ensuring the deployment of cutting-edge, proven technologies for the  waste-to-SAF conversion process. This consortium of world-class technology  providers will enable the project to achieve optimal efficiency and production  quality while meeting international aviation fuel standards.

“The appointment of Saipem and ISS International Spa reflects our commitment to  aligning the project with world-class engineering, safety, and sustainability  standards. Their extensive experience across Africa and deep technical capabilities  make them ideal partners as we advance this transformational renewable fuels  facility” said Mr, Frederick Opoku Agyekum, Project Development Director of  F&B Bio Recyclage Ltd. “This collaboration will ensure that our waste-to-SAF  facility meets the highest international standards while delivering meaningful  environmental and economic benefits to Ghana.”

The project is expected to:

• Process 2000 tons of Municipal Solid waste daily.

• Produce sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) & Bio Diesel that can reduce carbon  emissions by up to 80% compared to conventional jet fuel

• Create employment opportunities and support local economic development • Establish Ghana as a pioneer in sustainable fuel production in West Africa

” We are pleased to support F&B Bio Recyclage on this pioneering Waste-to-SAF  project in Ghana. Our technical teams will bring extensive engineering expertise to  ensure a robust, bankable, and sustainable development pathway, said Mr. Federico  Zanellotti, Commercial Manager, BioRefineries at Saipem. “We are proud to  contribute our technical expertise to help F&B Bio Recyclage realize this  transformative vision for Ghana and the region.”

This collaboration is expected to accelerate progress toward Final Investment  Decision (FID) and position Ghana as a key contributor to the global sustainable  aviation fuel supply chain.

The designation of Saipem and ISS International represents a decisive step in  strengthening the technical rigor and global competitiveness of the Waste-to-SAF  Project in Ghana. Their expertise will play a pivotal role in guiding the project  through its advanced engineering phases, ensuring robust technical validation,  improved project certainty, and a smooth transition into the execution and  construction stages.

F&B Bio Recyclage Ltd remains committed to building strategic partnerships that  support Ghana’s environmental objectives, enhance local industrial capabilities,  and contribute to a cleaner, more sustainable aviation future. The company looks  forward to continued collaboration with all stakeholders as the project progresses  toward full realization
