Thermax Partners with HydrogenPro to localise green hydrogen technology in India

Energy solutions provider Thermax Ltd has entered into a strategic partnership with Norway’s HydrogenPro to indigenise alkaline water electrolysis technology for large-scale green hydrogen projects in India, reports The Economic Times.

The agreement, which covers technology licensing, stack supply, upgrades, and technical support, grants Thermax exclusive rights in India to supply, install, commission, and service alkaline electrolyser systems based on HydrogenPro’s technology.

“This association marks an important step in expanding our green hydrogen portfolio,” said Ashish Bhandari, MD & CEO of Thermax. “By combining HydrogenPro’s proven technology with Thermax’s engineering and project execution expertise, we will deliver integrated, localised, state-of-the-art electrolyser solutions with full lifecycle support.”

Effective immediately, the partnership will support ongoing green hydrogen projects in India. Under the technology transfer plan, Thermax will design and manufacture key systems and balance-of-plant components for integration with HydrogenPro stacks. The companies will also jointly develop advanced solutions, starting with a short-stack test station at Thermax’s Pune facility.

HydrogenPro CEO Jarle Dragvik said the collaboration provides the company with “an important entry into India and a solid market foothold” in one of the world’s fastest-growing hydrogen markets.

Through the tie-up, Thermax aims to deliver end-to-end green hydrogen solutions, including electrolyser systems, EPC execution, and value-added services, as it positions itself to play a leading role in India’s green hydrogen ecosystem.
