12 drums of suspected biodiesel seized in joint raid, accused flee

Fatehbad: Police and officials of the Food and Civil Supplies Department seized 12 drums filled with suspected biodiesel-like oil during a joint operation at the auto market on Uklana Road on Wednesday. The accused, however, managed to escape from the spot during the raid, reports Amar Ujala.

Based on a complaint filed by Food and Civil Supplies Department inspector Ashish Kumar, the police have registered a case under the Essential Commodities Act and started an investigation.

Police said the pickup vehicle used to transport the oil had earlier been caught carrying oil illegally. A few months ago, a man identified as Manoj was arrested while supplying oil using the same vehicle. Despite this, the group allegedly became active again and resumed the illegal trade.

Station house officer Om Prakash Bishnoi said a case was registered on Wednesday following the complaint by the department inspector. He said the accused would be arrested after the investigation is completed and the entire network involved in the illegal activity would be exposed.
